Drinks

Pào mò chá, or foam tea with milk, is a popular drink in Chinese tea culture. It combines the softness of milk with the rich aroma of black tea. The drink is often sweetened and served with a foamy top, which comes from quick stirring.
Pào Mò Chá (泡沫茶), foam tea with milk

Ingredients

  • 240 ml water
  • 1 black tea bag or 1 tsp loose black tea leaves
  • 120 ml milk
  • 2 tsp sugar or to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring the water to a boil in a small pot.
  2. Add the tea bag or loose tea leaves and steep for 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the tea bag or strain out the leaves and pour the tea into a large mug.
  4. Heat the milk in a separate pot, but do not let it boil.
  5. Sweeten the hot tea with sugar to taste and stir well.
  6. Slowly add the hot milk to the tea, stirring steadily to create a foamy top.
  7. Optionally boost the foam with a small hand mixer or milk frother.
  8. Serve immediately.
