Soda Gembira – Layered Soda with Syrup and Condensed Milk
Soda Gembira means “happy soda” and is on the drinks menu of nearly every warung in Indonesia. Red syrup, sweetened condensed milk and soda water start out in three layers in the glass. Pour the soda water slowly over the back of a spoon so the layers stay separate. Stir at the table, and the drink turns pink, creamy and fizzy.
